The beach

Yesterday we went to the beach.  We have been playing with and learning about the animals on the beach and in the sea.

We visited the horses

 

The horses need water to survive

Snow

Today we took a walk to collect some snow.

Icelamp

                                            Today we did some experiments whit water
                                                   to se if we could make an icelamp.

Ice

                                              Today we took an early walk down to the lake.
                                         Today our mission was to collect and talk about ice.

                                    Each child carried a big piece of ice back to the preschool.

                                                    We took the ice inside.
                               The children saw during the day what happend to the ice.
                                                    It became very cold water.

Frozen water

It's nice to play and explore with frozen water.

What's underneath the ice?

Two boys did an experiment. They broke the ice to find out what was underneath it: water. 

Frozen ring

It was exciting to find a ring frozen in the ground at the playground. She had to think of a way to get it out and found that using a rock was the best option. She was also curious to know how the ring had gotten there and how it got stuck inside the ice.

Water related field trips

We went downtown to feed the ducks and to see our big pond "Reykjavíkurtjörn".

We went to the zoo (Húsdýragarðurinn) to look at the seals swimming in half-frozen water

We put different pictures of water at the wall for the children to look at......

Rainy day by the lake

On our walk to the lake we heard a strange sound. What could it be? Where did the sound come from?

We looked up and we saw the electricwires. Did the sound come from them?
We asked the kids? and the kids wondered why they sounded louder when it was raining.

Our answere to the kids was: When the raindrops hits the electricwires they make the strange sound.



The kids are woundering what kind of animals lives in the lake.

Red Lake (Rauðavatn)

Our oldest group (Snillingarnir, aged 4-5) went to "our" lake, which is a fifteen minute away and spent the day there, interacting with nature.

Firefighters visited!

Some firefighters came for a visit - they showed us how water can be used to put out fires, and we saw their giant water hose.

More water games!

We have increased the frequency of our water games! J
