Acorn

The fall has arrived and we have a change of season going on. The children are talking a lot about acorns and they want to go out and see them in the trees and on the ground.

So today we walked to our Oak Hill to see if we could find some acorns.

The kids got one small bucket each and they started to pick some acorns they found on the ground.

They found green ones and brown once. Big and small once. With hats and without hats.

Some children made sounds with the acorn and rattled the acorns in the buckets. Some children started to count the acorns in the buckets and some children went to the puddle on the top of the stub and started to put the acorns in the water.

They started to see if the acorns float or if they sunk. They tried several differnt sizes, with the hats on or off.

The oldest children in the group found out that the color didn't matter if they float or sunk. They all agreed that picking and playing with acorns are fun and they want to do this again.
